Common questions
What does 'free to design' mean exactly?
You can use the full design canvas — add roles, connect tools, draw reporting lines — and export your agents as a JSON spec, all without paying. The Free plan supports five saved agent designs with no time limit.
What's the difference between Pro and Team?
Pro is for solo designers — unlimited designs, version history, and REST API access. Team is for people working with engineers or other PMs — it adds collaborator seats, commenting, GitHub publish, and an org-wide design library. Both are free during beta.
What's in the JSON export?
A structured spec following the open Envelope schema: agent roles, tool assignments, reporting lines, triggers, and guardrails. It's readable by engineers, storable in Git, and pasteable straight into an MCP host config.
Do I need an account to share a design?
You need a free account to generate a share link. The person receiving it doesn't need an account — they just open the link and see a read-only view.
When does paid pricing start?
We're in beta right now, so everything is free with no time limit. Paid pricing will be introduced after beta — we'll give everyone plenty of notice before that happens.
Can my IT team use the export to actually deploy the agents?
Yes — that's the point. The spec is everything an engineer needs: which agents run, which tools they connect to, what their permissions look like. Envelope also supports MCP-compatible hosts for teams that want to run it directly.
